Dacron Cruising Sails

No other material has a longer life. The reason for that is the polyester woven cloth is more resistant to impacts and UV rays than any other material used in manufacturing sails. Dacron sails can stay over 10 years in one piece but looses its aerodynamic shape due to the time frame because polyester yarns are much more elastic compared with advanced technology yarns such as Kevlar and carbon-fibre. Deformed, badly shaped sails causes the boats to heel much more to leeward and hence loss of speed But never make the mistake of assuming that all Dacron sails are the same. That's like thinking that all wooden houses are built the same way. The difference is in the construction details. The reason for our sails to be a little more expensive is that we put more effort and craft into a sail.
